Ingredients

For the buns:

• 4 cups plain flour
• 2 tsp instant yeast
• ¼ cup caster sugar
• 1 tsp cinnamon
• 1 tsp mixed spice
• 1 cup warm milk
• 50g melted butter
• 1 egg
• 1 cup mixed dried fruit

For the crosses
• ½ cup plain flour
• 5 tbsp water

Method

  1. Combine flour, yeast, sugar and spices in a large bowl.
  2. Add warm milk, melted butter and egg. Mix into a soft dough.
  3. Knead for 8–10 minutes, then fold through dried fruit.
  4. Cover and leave to rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Divide the dough into 12 buns and place them onto a tray lined with Multix Unbleached Pre-Cut Baking Sheets.
  6. Mix flour and water into a paste and pipe crosses onto buns.
  7. Bake at 180°C for 20–25 minutes until golden.

Serve warm with butter.
