STORAGE REFRIGERATOR FREEZER ADVICE
CHEESE Use foil to wrap cheese. Freezer bag. Will freeze for up to 3 months. Creamy cheeses will freeze well if over 40% butter fat content.
MEAT & POULTRY Freezer bag - or on a plate or rack covered with cling wrap Freezer bag then foil. Beef, lamb and poultry can be frozen for 6 months, pork 3 months, mince and sausage for 2 months. Be sure to expel as much air as possible to avoid freezer burn.
VEGETABLES Freezer bag - leaving plenty of air surrounding the vegetables. Store in crisper section. Freezer bag. Vegetables must be blanched before freezing. 3-4 months Can be defrosted and cooked in the microwave without removing from the bag.
COOKED & CASSEROLES Cool completely before covering with cling wrap and foil. Freezer bag. Wrap in foil if storing for extended periods. 2 months. Take care when defrosting in the bag in the microwave. High temperatures of fat can melt the bag.
SALTY/ACIDIC FOODS Place in freezer bag or cling wrap before wrapping in foil to prevent possible deterioration of the foil due to the high acid/salt content in the food. BREAD Not recommended as the low temperature will make the bread go stale very quickly. Freezer bag stops mould growth and keeps the bread fresher for much longer. Bread keeps best when frozen as quickly as possible.
PASTRY Cling wrap - or freezer bag. Freezer bag or foil pie dishes covered with a freezer bag. 3 months. Allow ample time for thawing in the bag so that the pastry does not get soggy.
CAKES Freezer bag. Freezer bag. 3 months Only freeze unfilled cakes, or cakes filled with butter icing.

Apricots, Mangoes, Nectarines, Peaches, Pears, Plums Ripen at room temperature, then store in the fridge Store in a Multix Freezer Bag in the fridge when ripe 2 - 3 Days

Avocadoes Ripen at room temperature for 4-7 days Speed up ripening process by storing in a paper bag with a banana 2 days
Bananas Ripen at room temperature May be stored in the fridge when ripe. Skin will blacken but the flesh will remain un affected 2 - 3 Days (Room Temp.)
5 - 7 Days (Fridge)
Cherries, Grapes Ripe when picked Multix Freezer Bag in the fridge 2 - 3 Days
Oranges, Lemons, Grapefruit, Mandarins Ripe when picked Store at room temperature or refrigerate in crisper to extend storage 7 Days (Room Temp.)
Melons, Pineapples Ripe when picked Store at room temperature. When cut, cover with Multix Cling and refrigerate. 2 - 3 Days (Room Temp.)
Strawberries, Raspberries, Blueberries, etc. Ripe when picked Remove from punnet. Place unwashed berries in a single layer on a plate covered with a piece of kitchen towel in fridge. 2 - 3 Days (Room Temp.)

Vegetable Storage Use Within
Asparagus Trim base. Stand in water, cover with Multix Freezer Bag, store in fridge 14 days
Beans Store unwashed in an unsealed Multix Freezer Bag in crisper section of fridge 4 days
Bok Choy In paper bag in crisper section of fridge 2 days
Broccoli Keep dry. Store in unsealed Multix Freezer Bag in crisper section of fridge. 5 days
Brussel Sprouts, Cabbage, Cucumber, Zucchini, Peas Store unwashed in an unsealed Multix Freezer Bag in crisper section of fridge. 3 days
Capsicum, Eggplant, Leek, Lettuce Store unwashed in an unsealed Multix Freezer Bag in crisper section of fridge. 5 days
Carrots, Celery Store unwashed in an unsealed Multix Freezer Bag in crisper section of fridge. 7 days
Cauliflower Store unwashed in an unsealed Multix Freezer Bag in crisper section of fridge with heads downwards. 14 days
Sweetcorn Store unwashed in an unsealed Multix Freezer Bag in crisper section of fridge. 1 days
Garlic, Onions, Pumpkins Store in cool, dark, well ventilated area. Wrap peeled and cut pieces in Multix Cling or Multix Freezer Bag and refrigerate. 2 - 3 months. 7 days once cut and refrigerated
Parsnips Store unwashed in an unsealed Multix Freezer Bag in crisper section of fridge. 2 weeks
Potato, Sweet Potato Store in cool, dark, well ventilated area. 7 days
Rhubarb Remove leaves and discard. Store stalks in a Multix Freezer Bag in the refrigerator. 4 days
Spinach Trim off roots. Store unwashed in an unsealed Multix Freezer Bag in crisper section of fridge. 2 days
Tomato Ripen at room temperature. May be stored in a Multix Freezer Bag in the refrigerator, but bring to room temperature before using. 3 days
