Ingredients

  • 1 kg (8) chicken drumsticks

Marinade

  • ½ cup hoisin sauce
  • ½ cup low salt soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablepoon sesame oil.
  • 2 garlic cloves crushed
  • 1 tablespoon, peeled & grated fresh ginger

To serve

  • toasted sesame seeds

You'll Need

  • Multix large freezer bags
  • Multix Alfoil
  • Multix Bake

Method

  1. Place one freezer bag inside the other (for extra strength) and add the hoisin sauce, all of the marinade ingredients and the drum sticks. Seal the bags well and massage the marinade into the meat. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight, turning over a couple of times to make sure the chicken is well coated in the marinade.
  2. Preheat oven to 180°C. Line an oven tray or roasting dish with Multix Bake. It will need to be large enough to just fit the chicken in a single layer.
  3. Transfer the marinated chicken together with all of the marinade to the dish, cover with Multix Bake and Alfoil and then place in the oven. Cook for approximately 30 minutes turning occasionally, then remove the cover and bake for another 25 minutes or until the chicken is tender, cooked through, and a rich dark brown. Serve topped with toasted sesame seeds and a salad.
  4. Tip: This aromatic sticky chicken recipe is also suitable to cook on a hooded BBQ, just place on the pan or flat plate of the BBQ and cook covered in bake and foil with the hood down for the first 30 minutes. Then transfer to the flat plate topped with Multix Bake (so the marinade doesn’t burn onto the plate) to finish the cooking process.
